Maundy Thursday
If you have not been to a Maundy Thursday service, consider going. Traditionally a service of darkness, it commemorates the trial and crucifixion. It is a perfect bookend to the joy of Easter which gives us all hope. In the past I've attended the service at Colorado Community Church, Englewood. This year, probably I'll go to Hope Fellowship. There is an entire website devoted to "maundy!"
If you haven't seen this article, from JAMA in 1986 detailing some medical opinions and historical research on Roman flogging and crucifixion, it is definitely worth reading. And what better time than Holy Week?
