Dear Friends,
There is an urgent need for you to call Governor Owens.
Please call him to veto House Bill 1042 which would rquire Catholic
hospitals to give rape victims emergency contraception or refer them for it.
The Bill is a misnomer, because if it is not first determined that the woman
is pregnant already, these pills may end a pregnancy by making the womb
inhospitable for the fertilized egg. If it totally and only prevented
pregnancy, there wouldn't be an issue, as it is, the pills can cause early
abortion.
Catholic hospitals should not be required to provide something that runs
contrary to their faith, which is that human life which begins at
conception, should be protected and respected. I can understand the trauma
the raped woman is under, but two wrongs don't make a "right" and the baby
should not be killed for the crime of his/her father.
Gov Owens' phone number is : 303-866-2471. Please do this right away and
forward this message.
I don't know about you, but I received a phone message which is probably
from the Republican Majority for Choice, supporting the bill...I ask you to
call Gov Owens NOT to support it. Thank you.
